Whether you have epoxy coated flooring in your garage, basement, patio, or sunroom, the maintenance and cleaning tips are usually the same. Epoxy floors are easy to maintain; in fact, many people opt for epoxy floors for their garages because they are so easy to care for. You will find the tips given below very useful for the maintenance of your epoxy flooring.

General maintenance

Dust mop once a week: the best way to maintain your epoxy floor is to run a soft dust mop over it once a week. This expels dirt and dust gently, which prevents scratches and protects your floor. For floors with an anti-slip aggregate coating (such as aluminium oxide), a soft bristle broom may be more effective than a standard dust mop.

Vacuum any joints

If you have visible construction joints or saw cuts, you should use a vacuum to clean these out. For best results, utilize your vacuum attachment hose with a crevice tool. Do this at least once a month. You can also clean any joints/cuts with a stiff bristle broom if you don’t have a vacuum.

Clean spills immediately with a soft cloth

Oil, chemicals or even just water left to sit for long can cause damage to your epoxy floors. Clean any spills as soon as you see them using a soft towel or cloth. You can also use a gentle cleanser if the spill is sticky or leaves a film.

Perform a deep clean every 3 months

Oil, chemicals or even just water left to sit for long can cause damage to your epoxy floors. Clean any spills as soon as you see them using a soft towel or cloth. You can also use a gentle cleanser if the spill is sticky or leaves a film.

Choose a cleaning solution

You can either use a non-toxic, biodegradable cleanser or ammonia. When prepared with the right amount of water, both of these cleansers are safe and effective for epoxy floors.

What not to do

Never use solvent based chemicals i.e. Acetone, thinners or turpentine  to clean of marks. Most solvent based chemicals will discolour your Epoxy Coating.
